Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation conducted the online seminar “Best Practices for Electrical Safety and Energy Conservation for Schools” in partnership with Meralco Business Centers in San Pablo and Lucena to strengthen campus safety, energy efficiency and environmental responsibility.

Held via Zoom, the webinar gathered faculty, staff and key university personnel for a knowledge-sharing session on electrical safety, risk reduction and energy conservation in academic institutions.

Engr. Jessalyn Guerra and Engr. Raymond Fideli, BIZ Partner Managers from Meralco’s San Pablo and Lucena Business Centers, served as resource speakers. They shared practical insights based on real-world challenges faced by schools and other institutions.

The speakers discussed electrical safety in academic environments, emphasizing hazard prevention, risk mitigation and the importance of building a strong safety culture. They also shared cost-efficient strategies that schools can adopt to reduce energy consumption while maintaining operational efficiency.

A key part of the webinar focused on smart energy management systems. The discussion showed how data-driven tools can help institutions monitor, manage and optimize energy use more effectively.

The session also highlighted the importance of strong partnerships between academic institutions and utility providers in achieving long-term sustainability goals.

Participants were encouraged to take an active role in promoting conservation and safety across the university. The webinar emphasized that sustainability requires shared responsibility and consistent action from the whole community.

The initiative supports MSEUF’s efforts to strengthen its performance in sustainability platforms such as the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings.

The webinar was spearheaded by Engr. Mark Nel Inojosa, electrical engineer and certified energy manager, under the leadership of Engr. Ariel Nicolas, director of the General Services Department.

Through the activity, MSEUF continued to advance its commitment to a safer, more efficient and more sustainable campus environment.

The initiative reflected MSEUF’s commitment to operational excellence, environmental stewardship and responsible campus development. It also upheld the core values of Mindfulness, Excellence and Service by equipping university personnel with practical knowledge that supports safety, conservation and sustainability.
