GSD led basic computer refresher to upskill staff
The General Services Department, with Human Resource and ICTD, held a basic computer refresher at the MSEUF iLounge to equip GSD personnel with practical digital skills for a tech-driven workplace, Oct. 3.
GSD opened the program with welcome remarks from PPF supervisor Arnold de Chavez. ICTD’s IT support specialist Mark Joseph Andes guided staff through essential computer use and applications, including Word, Excel, Foxit PDF editor, digital signatures and email management in Outlook.
HRD’s HR generalist Karl Jasper Aranilla introduced the HRIS portal and showed staff how to access and navigate key features to support daily work.
All GSD staff attended and took part in a lively Q&A that surfaced common challenges in file handling, formatting, email etiquette and system navigation.
Project engineer Marlou Quincena closed the training and urged teams to keep upskilling to boost productivity and service delivery.
“This seminar not only aims to equip GSD staff, particularly skilled workers and maintenance personnel, with foundational computer knowledge but also serves as a capacity-building initiative that prepares them as we go digital in the upcoming months through the launching of the GSD Work Management System,” Ariel Nicolas, GSD director, said.
The sessions earned positive feedback from personnel who called the training practical and empowering, bridging traditional work practices with digital tools.
This initiative advanced MSEUF’s mission to deliver transformative, outcomes-oriented learning by building staff capability where work happens. It also upheld the University’s core values—Service and Excellence through improved operations, Unity via cross-unit collaboration, and Fortitude by embracing continuous upskilling.
