MSEUF joins Internal Quality Assurance ASEAN-QA training in Thailand

Corporate Planning and Development Officer (CPDO) and Officer-in-Charge of Office of Quality Assurance(OQA) Leah Salas of the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) joined the ASEAN-QA Training on Internal Quality Assurance (TrainIQA), a regional program aimed at strengthening quality assurance in higher education.

MSEUF Vice President for Administration Atty. Dario Opistan also attended the opening meeting in Bangkok, Thailand, along with other university leaders from participating countries.

The training gathered 29 participants from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam. The program, which started in March 2025, will run until December through a series of in-person and online sessions.

Salas said the training provided a structured approach to improving quality assurance in universities.

“We discussed practical strategies to evaluate academic programs, manage data effectively, and implement institutional improvements. These are necessary steps to strengthen higher education standards,” she said.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK), and the University of Potsdam (UP), in partnership with ASEAN-QA institutions, organized the training. The German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) funded the program under the Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies (DIES) initiative.

Participants focused on designing quality assurance frameworks, evaluating academic programs, managing institutional data, and linking internal processes to external accreditation standards. They also developed project action plans for their respective universities.

Salas said she plans to apply the knowledge from the training to enhance MSEUF’s internal quality assurance efforts.

“This experience reinforced the importance of continuous improvement in higher education. Our goal is to create effective systems that align with global quality standards,” she said.
