MSEUF joins Privacy Awareness Week 2026

Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, through its Data Protection Office, participated in the annual Privacy Awareness Week convention held May 27 and 28 at Okada Manila.
Organized by the National Privacy Commission, the convention gathered data protection officers, privacy experts and institutional leaders from across the country under the theme “Anamnesis: Looking Back and Moving Forward.”
The event highlighted the evolving responsibility of organizations to protect the personal data of their stakeholders and continuously strengthen public trust through responsible data governance.
“Building a culture of privacy is never a one-time project. It is a continuous journey of persuasion, education, governance, and trust-building,” said Raymund Liboro, former NPC privacy commissioner and chairman.
One of the highlights of the convention was the annual PAW Awards, which recognized exemplary privacy practices across 10 categories in the public and private sectors. MSEUF was included among the nominees for the NPC Seal of Registration Compliance Excellence Award under the private sector category.
The second day of the convention focused on modern technological challenges, including the emergence of artificial intelligence and its potential risks to personal data. Panel discussions were led by data protection officers and privacy consultants from globally recognized platforms and companies, including TikTok, Meta and Mynt Inc.
Experts also discussed the growing concern over “shadow data” and the risks of entering sensitive information into AI systems. They reminded organizations to strengthen safeguards, improve awareness and ensure responsible data handling as technologies continue to evolve.
MSEUF’s participation in the convention reinforced its commitment to data privacy, cybersecurity awareness and responsible institutional governance in support of a safe and trusted academic environment.
The activity aligned with Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation’s commitment to Excellence, Mindfulness and Service by strengthening institutional awareness on data protection, ethical technology use and responsible governance. It also supported the university’s goal of sustaining a secure learning and working environment for students, employees, alumni and partners.
