MSEUF partakes in CHED's commemoration of ASEAN 57th Founding Anniversary

 

The Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) participated in the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) ASEAN awareness campaign to commemorate the 57^th founding anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The event was conducted in hybrid format, allowing the MSEUF to attend via Zoom, Aug. 12.

The Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) served as the chair of this year's event with the theme, “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience.”

The Lao PDR’s chairmanship in 2024 focuses on enhancing connectivity and resilience, aiming to strengthen ASEAN cooperation across its three community pillars. The goals include promoting infrastructure connectivity, narrowing the development gap, fostering greater economic integration, facilitating people-to-people exchanges, and enhancing ASEAN’s relations with external partners while maintaining its centrality in the evolving regional architecture.

To align with these objectives, CHED Region IV-A Calabarzon, led by Officer-in-Charge Office of the Director Dr. Freddie B. Bulauan, has organized commemorative activities that began on August 12, 2024. The Academic Community, university presidents, and school heads were invited to join these activities via Zoom.

In his message, Dr. Bulauan emphasized that the theme captures ASEAN's strategic priorities as the region navigates the complexities of an increasingly interconnected and turbulent world.

"Resilience refers to the ability to withstand and adapt to various challenges such as economic shocks, health crises, and climate change," Dr. Bulauan remarked. "The theme stresses the need for ASEAN to strengthen its institutions, enhance disaster preparedness, and promote sustainable development. By building resilience, ASEAN aims to ensure that its communities and economies recover swiftly from adversities and continue to thrive in the face of uncertainty." Dr. Bulauan added.

The kicked-off ceremony included the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, Prayer, Panunumpa ng Lingkod ng Pilipinas, Panunumpa sa Bagong Pilipinas, CHED Hymn, ASEAN Hymn, 57^th ASEAN Activities of CHEDRO IV-A, Inspirational Message, Pilipinas Kong Mahal, and Bagong Pilipinas Hymn. The administrative division of the region hosted the activity.
