MSEUF upholds strict water pollution control measures to protect campus environment
In line with national environmental regulations, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation MSEUF continues to implement a comprehensive Water Pollution Control Program that safeguards the quality of water within its campus. This initiative demonstrates the Universitys strong adherence to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources–Environmental Management Bureau DENR-EMB guidelines and the provisions of Republic Act No. 9275, also known as the Philippine Clean Water Act.

Ensuring compliance through regular monitoring
MSEUF maintains full compliance with the statutory requirement to secure a wastewater discharge permit from the DENR-EMB annually. This permit authorizes the University to manage and discharge wastewater in accordance with environmental safety standards.
Since the University’s wastewater is primarily domestic in nature, there is no need for a large-scale treatment facility. Instead, the campus operates three-chamber septic tanks that efficiently process wastewater before it is released. The effluent water from these tanks is directed to Banyuhay Pond, a man-made water body within the campus that serves as a collection and monitoring point for water quality.
Quarterly water quality testing and analysis
To ensure environmental safety, the University conducts quarterly water quality analyses through a DENR-accredited laboratory. These tests measure the effluent’s compliance with the seven parameters required by the DENR-EMB:
-
Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD)
-
Ammonia
-
Phosphate
-
Surfactants
-
Fecal Coliform
-
Nitrate
-
Oil and Grease
By maintaining the required standards across these parameters, MSEUF ensures that wastewater released into the environment poses no harm to the community or surrounding ecosystems.
Strengthening environmental stewardship
MSEUF’s proactive approach to water pollution control reflects its commitment to Mindfulness, Service, and Excellence — key values that guide the University’s sustainability initiatives. Through responsible wastewater management and strict regulatory compliance, MSEUF continues to uphold its role as a model of environmental responsibility in higher education.
