Promoting voluntary blood donation and community health service, the Enverga University Student Nurses Association, in collaboration with the Philippine Society of Medical Technology Students–MSEUF Lucena, participated in Project ISKOL, or Involving Schools in Kindling Outreach for Life, on Sept. 26 at the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation Twin Court.
Held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the activity aimed to encourage voluntary blood donation and contribute to efforts to maintain an adequate blood supply for patients requiring transfusions because of medical procedures, emergencies and other health conditions.
Twenty-three EUSNA officers and members provided manpower and assistance throughout the activity, supporting its organization and implementation while gaining practical experience in teamwork, communication and professional responsibility.
The activity was facilitated by the Lucena City DOH Office in partnership with the DOH Center for Health Development CALABARZON National Voluntary Blood Services Program, MSEUF School Administration, Lucena City Health Office, QPHN–Quezon Medical Center Blood Bank, Philippine Red Cross–Lucena City Chapter, Quezon Provincial Health Office and ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya.
Through their participation, EUSNA and PHISMETS helped strengthen health awareness and volunteerism within the University community while working alongside health professionals, government agencies and partner institutions.
Project ISKOL also provided student health organizations with an opportunity to translate their academic preparation into community-oriented service and contribute to collective efforts that support patients who depend on safe and available blood supplies.
The activity supported MSEUF’s learning-by-doing and student-centered educational approaches by involving students directly in a community health initiative where they could apply teamwork, communication and professional responsibility. It also reflected the core values of Service, Unity and Mindfulness through volunteerism, collaboration and concern for the health needs of the wider community.
- SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being — Project ISKOL promoted voluntary blood donation and supported efforts to maintain blood availability for patients who require transfusions.
- SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals — The activity brought together student organizations, MSEUF, government health offices, blood service institutions and community partners in a coordinated health initiative.
