MSEUF launches innovative student learning community workshop
Introducing a transformative approach to student learning, moving beyond traditional peer-assisted methods to foster a more dynamic and inclusive academic environment, the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) through the Learning Development Center (LDC) conducted the Student Learning Community (SLC) Workshop, Feb. 18.
Organized by the Learning Development Center, the workshop gathered students from various program backgrounds to participate in a newly conceptualized learning strategy that emphasizes shared responsibility, collaboration, and empowerment. Instead of limiting peer support to at-risk learners, the SLC model encourages interaction across all academic levels—forming communities where learners can both give and receive support, regardless of their academic standing.
One of the core features of this initiative is the deputization of select participants as student-teachers or peer mentors. These student-leaders are tasked with guiding their peers—providing not only academic assistance but also encouragement and motivation through shared learning experiences.
“This model reflects the University’s commitment to building a culture of mentorship and mutual growth,” said a representative from the Learning Development Center. “It’s not just about helping others catch up—it’s about learning together and creating stronger academic communities.”
With a design that values diverse perspectives, the SLC strategy aims to contextualize learning opportunities in ways that are relevant to the actual academic and personal challenges faced by students. By cultivating this kind of support network, MSEUF continues its drive to ensure that no student is left behind and that every learner has the opportunity to thrive.
This new approach also aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, by promoting inclusive and equitable learning opportunities for all. The workshop is a key step in MSEUF’s mission to strengthen student-centered learning strategies and to further develop leaders who are equipped not only academically, but also in service and character.
