LDC, BED launches year-long academic writing support program
The Basic Education Department of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation launched a year-long academic writing support program with the Learning Development Center on the initiative of BED LDC Coordinator Jennifer Garcia.
The program combines one-on-one coaching with peer tutoring to support student researchers.
Garcia said the effort aims to guide students throughout the research process and improve their academic writing competence.
Under the one-on-one coaching system, the department paired students with research coaches who mentor them in developing research questions, reviewing literature, and interpreting data. In the peer tutoring component, students meet in small groups to exchange ideas, provide feedback, and strengthen writing skills.
“This program helps our students gain both the technical skills and the confidence to complete their research,” Garcia said.
“We want to ensure they receive sustained support across the academic year.” Garcia added.
The department linked the initiative to Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) by promoting research-based learning, 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by providing equal access to research support, and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration among students, mentors, and institutional offices.
