OSCR, LDC launches academic support program for student-athletes
The Office of Sports and Cultural Relations and the Learning Development Center of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation launched an academic monitoring and support program for student-athletes.
The initiative tracked the academic standing of athletes and provided interventions through peer tutoring and academic coaching. OSCR staff said the program aimed to help student-athletes balance training, competitions, and academic responsibilities.
The program included peer tutoring in key subjects, one-on-one coaching on study strategies and time management, and continuous progress tracking with feedback. LDC mentors coordinated with coaches to connect athletes to support services.
“This program recognizes the dual role of our student-athletes,” OSCR Director Darios Virrey said.
“We want them to achieve in their sports while also completing their academic requirements.” Virrey added.
Organizers linked the initiative to Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting balanced student development, 4 (Quality Education) by ensuring academic success for athletes, and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration between university offices.
