The College of Arts and Sciences Council of Officers (CASCO) of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation held a symposium on research ethics and analytical rigor, Mar. 24.

The event gathered third- and fourth-year students preparing for thesis writing and capstone projects.

Dr. Ma. Corazon Valdeavilla served as resource speaker and discussed the role of ethics, methodology, and intellectual honesty in research. She also presented case studies on addressing ethical dilemmas in scholarly work.

“This symposium reminds students that research is not only a technical task but also a responsibility guided by integrity,” Valdeavilla said. “Ethical choices define the value and credibility of their contributions.”

CAS LDC Coordinator Ashiel Batrina said the initiative aimed to support students in strengthening their research competence and understanding the responsibilities tied to academic inquiry.

Organizers linked the activity to Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) by promoting research-based learning, 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by upholding integrity and accountability in scholarship, and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration between student organizations, faculty, and institutional offices.
