GSD, Procurement implement joint directive for energy-efficient equipment purchases
The General Services Department (GSD) and the Procurement Office of the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF), with the full support of the University Management and the Finance Team, have established a joint directive to ensure that all future equipment acquisitions shall prioritize the procurement of energy-efficient appliances.
The directive explained that all purchase of replacement of defective units or for newly constructed facilities including air-conditioning units, televisions, and other equipment shall be with 5-star energy ratings, the highest efficiency level available.
This initiative reinforces MSEUF’s continuing commitment to sustainability and energy conservation. It aligns with the program of the Vice President for Administration, “We Care to SHINE,” which highlights the University’s collective responsibility to uphold Sustainability, Human-centered innovation, Integrity, Nurturing environment, and Excellence in every aspect of its operations.
During the Administrative Council strategic planning, the importance of energy efficiency and responsible resource utilization was strongly emphasized as part of the University’s long-term operational goals. In response, the GSD and Procurement Office have institutionalized this directive to guide all future purchases, ensuring that energy-saving measures are integrated into campus facilities and infrastructure.
This effort also supports the sustainability thrust of the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) of MSEUF, underscoring the University’s proactive approach to reducing energy consumption and carbon footprint. By investing in 5-star rated equipment,
MSEUF not only lowers operational costs but also demonstrates leadership in sustainable campus management.
Through this collaborative initiative, MSEUF continues to strengthen its position as a green and forward-looking university, integrating environmental responsibility into every procurement and facility management decision—proving that caring for the environment begins with mindful choices and shared institutional commitment.
