CEd explores partnership with New Horizons School Vietnam

Maestros delved into teaching prospects, with a recent seminar shedding light on the complexities and potential of teaching abroad, particularly in Vietnam, with guest speakers Maria Oliveros Basaran and Korcan Basaran from New Horizons School in Vietnam, held at the Library Seminar Hall, June 14.

“The Vietnam seminar was a nostalgic experience for me,” shared by Czar Emmanoel Traqueña, reflecting on the event as it provided a concise summary of how teachers can navigate opportunities overseas. The seminar emphasized the necessity of two to three years of DepEd-accredited teaching experience, alongside the challenges of document authentication and language proficiency requirements like IELTS.

While acknowledging these challenges, Mr. and Mrs. Basaran highlighted the allure of international placements, citing lucrative salaries, lower living costs, and favorable work environments as significant draws. Realistic perspectives were also voiced, with educators emphasizing the importance of gaining local teaching experience before pursuing international roles. “My goal is to get started locally,” Traqueña noted, echoing sentiments shared among MSEUF’s teaching community.

The seminar underscored the College of Education’s commitment to preparing educators for global careers, equipping them with insights and strategies to navigate the evolving landscape of international education opportunities.
