CEd pays tribute at World Teachers’ Day 2024

In celebration of World Teacher’s Day with the theme “Grateful to Teacher,” the College of Education faculty and students took part in the fun-filled event held at AEC Little Theater, Oct. 3.

The celebration is divided into different parts, namely “Maestro Mini-Me,” where students portrayed their chosen CEd faculty member; “Guro, Guru, Galing: Mini Pageant Edition,” where CEd faculty members displayed their inner talents and wits; and the Maestranghalan performance brought by the Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAEd) students which emphasized the impact and importance of teachers in their students’ lives.

“Maestro Mini-Me” brought smiles and laughter when three contestants made a masterful impersonation of their chosen CEd professors. Riccy Gail Canlas, BEEd - I, impersonated Mrs. Reina V. Pasumbal; John Lei Rivera, BSEd Science - IV, portrayed Mr. Carlos Villaester; and Kaye G. Heray, BSEd English - IV, made an impression of Ms. Denlyn Joy Halili. Rivera was hailed first place, while Heray and Canlas placed second and third, respectively.

In “Guro, Guru, Galing: Mini Pageant Edition,” thunderous cheers and astonishment roared through the venue as the CEd faculty members creatively introduced themselves - showcasing their hidden talents. The pageant was later succeeded by a contest where selected Ced faculty members competed by their humor and wits. Mr. Dexter Villamin was named champion of the contest.

Also, second-year students from the Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAEd) delivered a stellar performance titled “Dahil kay Teacher,” a play of acting, dance, and musical combined for this year’s Maestranghalan, where selected education students perform various talents with relevance to the teaching profession.

The BCAEd students emphasized the teachers’ role in shaping the lives of their students, leaving an indelible mark that they will bring to the rest of their lives. Both the faculty and students applauded their performance.

As the celebration drew to a close, the theater was rounded with applause and cheers as the maestros showed their utmost love and appreciation to their fellow pre-service teachers and the entire CEd faculty.
