WCDE Team takes part in first-ever Philippine Design Fest

To stay updated on the latest trends in multimedia and design, the Web Content and Digital Engagement Office of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation attended the first-ever Philippine Design Fest on Nov. 14–15 at the Philippine Trade Training Center in Pasay City.
The WCDEO delegation included Web Content and Digital Engagement Officer John Rover Sinag and Digital Content Creators Simon Romuel Uy and Francess Faye Clar De Jesus.
The event gathered creative professionals, designers, illustrators and animators from different parts of the world and gave participants a space to explore innovation and the changing landscape of visual communication.
Organized by the Filipino Graphic Designers community in collaboration with the Printing Industry Board Foundation Inc., the festival carried the theme “Design to Be in Business.” The two-day event highlighted how design supports both creativity and industry while encouraging collaboration and learning among members of the local creative sector.
“Attending the Philippine Design Fest gave us the opportunity to learn from industry leaders and see how design continues to shape meaningful digital experiences,” Sinag said. “It reminded us that effective web content and digital engagement must always evolve with creativity, strategy and the needs of our audience.”
During the festival, the WCDEO team also joined the Design Drift UI/UX design speed-run contest. In the activity, participants took over an ongoing design project and worked with contestants in real time by following their instructions and editing the output through Figma.
“The speed-run contest challenged us to think fast, collaborate well and apply design principles under pressure,” Uy said. “It was a valuable experience that pushed us to become more adaptive and creative in using digital tools.”
De Jesus said the event also inspired the team to bring fresh ideas back to the university.
“Being part of the festival exposed us to new approaches in design and storytelling,” she said. “We look forward to applying what we learned to create more engaging and relevant digital content for the Envergan community.”
By attending the festival and participating in a hands-on design challenge, the WCDEO strengthened its exposure to current industry practices and emerging creative strategies that can support the university’s digital communication efforts.
