A Study on Awareness and Effectiveness of Security Features of the New Generation Currency as Perceived by Micro-Enterprises in Brgy. Ibabang Dupay Lucena City

Abstract
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas issued the new generation currency, in response to the rapidly growing number of counterfeited currency in our country. This study focused on identifying the level of awareness and effectiveness of security features of the new generation currency as perceived by micro-enterprises. It employed a descriptive research design wherein survey was used. The study was conducted in Brgy. Ibabang Dupay Lucena City. There were a total of 90 respondents who were categorized into three business sectors, the food, non-food and service sector. The respondents were selected using the simple random sampling formula. The frequency percentage distribution, weighted mean, ranking, analysis of variance, and t-test of significance were used in statistical analysis of data gathered. Analysis of the results reveals that the awareness of respondents has a significant impact on the perceived effectiveness of the security features of the new generation currency. The study is significant on the initiative of the BSP to protect the integrity of Philippine currency against counterfeited money and induce awareness to small scale business owners in identifying a genuine money over a counterfeited one.
