Abstract

This study aims to design of a parking facility that will enable the car owners to experience a hassle free, comfortable, safe, and secured parking space. In designing a good parking facility, there are several factors that must be considered like the number of target user of it to maximize the lot available for the said project, the accessibility of it to the establishment it will serve, and the environment. To consider the safety of a parking facility, it is advisable to make it visible as possible and to achieve this kind of facility the researchers decided to use steel as the primary material for the members of the structure. The use of steel structure is also a material of choice by the researcher because of its high strength that will ensure a less column design that will result in a more functional parking facility. The research was done to identify the most in need place for a parking facility. The researchers found out that the New Lucena City Complex is suffering from such problem of insufficient parking slots for both employees and the visitor of the government complex. After gathering enough information including survey and interviews regarding the existing parking space in the said area, the researchers concluded that it is in need of additional parking facility. The gathered information and conducted survey made by the researchers reveals the number of insufficiency of parking slots that is the basis of the researchers to the area to be consumed in the design procedure. It is also the basis of the researchers to identify the loads that must be considered in designing.
