DEVELOPMENT OF M-LEARNING MODULE FOR COMPUTER SYSTEM SERVICING NC II COURSE

Completed2015

Abstract

The main objective of the proposed study was to design and develop a mobile learning system that can be accessed on mobile gadgets specifically on Android gadgets thru Internet. The developed system has the features of providing an instructional module for the students/trainees’ training through lecture notes, video demonstration, test questionnaires, and simulations. It provides simple interface that makes the system easy to understand and user-friendly. The project used Rapid Application Development methodology in designing and analyzing the system requirements. This development technique made it faster to produce a prototype of the system. In designing the system, modeling software to create diagrams, such as use case, activity, sequence, class, ER, and deployment diagrams were utilized to elaborate and illustrate system functions and features. Meanwhile, HTML 5 and PHP or Hypertext Processor were the programming languages used to develop the system alongside with Javascript, Cascading Style Sheet (CSS), Asynchronous Javascript (AJAX), and MySQL which were utilized to create the interface of the system and its main features. Development tools were also utilized for the development of the system such as Netbeans, Eclipse, and Phone Gap as a cross platform software to convert one application to another platform application. Data and information were also gathered through observation and interviews in the requirements analysis, software designing, and development. A questionnaire based on ISO 25010 standard was used to measure the different criteria of the system. Based on evaluation of teachers and student-respondents, portability ranked as the highest, followed by functionality, security, maintainability, and usability. It implies that the proposed system met and satisfied most of the functional requirements in developing a system. It is then recommended that the MLearning Module be used as a learning tool for students.
