A PHENOMENOLOGICAL STUDY OF THE PSYCHOSOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OF YOUNG ADOLESCENTS RAISED BY SOLO PARENT

Abstract
This study focused on the influence of single parenting to the psychosocial
development of young adolescents. In achieving the objectives of the study, the
researcher used an interview protocol to identify the life stories of the coresearchers of the study. The life stories and data were analyzed using
interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). The credibility of the data were
assured by applying member-checking, peer checking, and data triangulation
method.
Results showed that the young adolescents have a positive outlook on solo
parenting, although one of the main problems encountered is financial constraint.
However, their solo parent never deprived them to provide support to their children.
A positive influence also showed in the life stories of the co-researchers in the
psychosocial development of young adolescents.
