Completed2018

Abstract

Numeracy has been widely adopted in primary schools rather than mathematics. This is not limited to the ability to use numbers, to add, subtract, multiply and divide. It encompasses the ability to use mathematical understanding and skills to solve problems and meet the demands of day-to-day living in complex social settings. This study is intended to explore the effectiveness of the developed early numeracy intervention materials. The quantitative method of data was collected using the weighted average mean and a quasi-experimental design to analyze the effectiveness of the intervention materials. T-test alongside was done to determine if the numeracy intervention materials had a positive impact on the sixty (60) pupil respondents. Teaching materials, teaching methods and language of instruction are the common experiences prioritized by the teachers in dealing with numeracy skills. The exemplary lessons were developed and used a variety of instructional strategies by the typical pupils in kindergarten and marked effective in enhancing the numeracy skills of the kindergarten pupils.
