ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ CAREER ASSESSMENT EXAMINATION RESULTS: BASIS FOR DEVELOPING A CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the result of students’ aptitude, interest, and values. Specifically, it sought to determine the profile of the students; identify the preferred track and strand of the students in senior high school, and to distinguish the factors that influence respondents' career choice and decision making. Furthermore, it sought to know the significant difference between the result of the respondent’s career interest test and personality types. In this research, quantitative and qualitative approaches will be employed. Basically, a sequential explanatory mixed methods design was utilized. For the quantitative approach the use of standardized tests such as NCAE, OASIS and COPES were used as a basis for the analysis and interpretation of the career interests, aptitude and personal values of the students. Interview with the students was also conducted. Results revealed that the factors that influenced career choice and decision making of the students are personal, family, environment, academic and financial. Hence the null hypothesis of the study is rejected, and it was concluded that there is a significant relationship between the results of the students’ career interests’ tests, scholastic aptitude test to personal value types. Since there is no existing program used in the institution, the findings of this study will be used to develop a career development program.
