These major themes include; Acceptance is the Best Medicine, Demands Acceptance from People, Holds Questions Left Unanswered, Keeps things to Herself, Prays for Strength and Guidance, Tries Being Optimistic, Puts Son’s Safety Over Own Happiness, Feels Hope Through Praying, Gave Up Work for his Son, and Believes Situation is God-given. The study delved on answering the questions, the acceptance of parents with children being diagnosed of Autism Spectrum Disorder, the struggles and challenges of having a child with autism, and coping mechanisms in handling children with spectrum.
Analyses revealed that in terms of acceptance, parents have different ways in accepting the condition of their children with ASD. A wide variety of psychological and emotional challenges revealed in the study included here are; some issues in marital relationship, struggles in handling the condition of the child and financial difficulties of parents. While in Coping Mechanisms, parents are indeed to discover, and solve struggles they are experiencing like for instance; looking for the best special school and therapy for the proper treatment of their children.
On the other hand, a Stress Management Workshop is recommended for the parents who have struggles in raising children with ASD. The purpose of the program is to restore their self-esteem and self-confidence that will help them more to fulfill their role and still have a good family relationship with their children.
