TEACHER INDUCTION PROGRAM AND ITS INFLUENCE TO THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF TEACHERS

Completed2019

Abstract

The researcher explored the influence of the Teacher Induction Program (TIP) on the professional development of teachers. This study primarily used a mixed method research design. There were 100 respondents selected through purposive sampling. They were the TIP recipients from 2008 to 2012 which are equally divided into twenty-five (25) recipients per congressional district. Meanwhile, weighted mean and analysis of variance were used to analyze the quantitative data while qualitative data analysis was used for the congregation of responses from the open ended questions and interviews. Findings of the study revealed that majority of the respondents are female, between thirty-one to forty years old, with bachelor’s degrees, and mostly Teacher 1 or Teacher 2. The survey showed that the influence of the teacher induction program on professional development was much evident and that they strongly agreed that the key element of the success of the TIP was the promotion of professional development among its recipients in the school division. There is a significant difference with at least one position on the effect of TIP to the professional development of the respondents when they are grouped according to demographic profile. It is recommended that for future researchers have a wider locale and to have a greater number of respondents including other divisions.
