Abstract

Teaching and learning in the science classroom involves the interplay between pedagogy and technology . Technology in the hands of a skilled professional results in a wonderful learning environment for children. This study on the DepEd Computerization Program (DCP)-eClassroom microlessons: Its impact on pupils’ performance in elementary science concepts was then undertaken . The researcher had 70 grade VI pupils from Lucena East III Elementary School . The data gathered were subject to proper statistical treatment. Based on the results, most of the respondents were male and came from section B . Most of them gained a grade of 81-83 in their final grade in science last year . The study revealed that computers are the most equipment that can be found inside the eClassroom . The most respondents’ experience on the use of eClassroom in their science subject were the teacher used eClassroom to motivate students’ interest in learning science and to give more attention on science concepts. The study revealed that the use of eClassroom makes learning more engaging and enhances students’ interaction . The most common observation on pupils’ performance in eClassroom microlessons were pupils enjoy watching food chain video using PowerPoint presentation and they are willing to explore and learn more in science. The researcher recommends to the teachers to provide the operational guidance and leadership in using the eClassroom, allow the pupils to work with their classmates inside the eClassroom, teach the pupils how to make a simple Powerpoint presentation, explain the importance of using eClassroom in science subject, and explain how to use and handle eClassroom equipments with care.
