FACTORS AFFECTING THE WORK PERFORMANCE OF POLICE OFFICERS IN SELECTED MUNICIPALITIES OF QUEZON PROVINCE
Abstract
This study aimed to determine the factors affecting the work performance of police officers in selected municipalities of Quezon Province. The gathering of data was conducted in Lucena City, Sariaya, Pagbilao and Tayabas Cityand the researchers utilized the descriptive-survey method of research. A total of 100 respondents answered the questionnaire composed of 50 police officers and 50 civilian.
Findings revealed that the work performance of police officers in terms of crime prevention police implements ordinances and laws, rules and regulation ordered by local and national government with the prevention of crime, police has knowledge to apply the law in arresting to prevent crime, they coordinates with the other agencies programs and project relating to the prevention of crime and the
PNP easily responds to the call of duties and responsibilities. In terms of maintenance of peace and order through police and community partnership, criminality is minimized; they had good skills in maintaining of peace and order, maintain peace and order by communicating to the citizen. Good skills and training are applied to their work to enhance their duty as a police officer and immediately responds to the crime. In terms of enforcement of law police officers have knowledge to conduct proper arresting of the suspect, special training in enforcing the law and the police officers have proper skills to handle the case.
Meanwhile, there are factors that greatly affect the work performance of police officers in selected municipalities of Quezon Province which included inadequate recognition of good work done by the police officers, insufficiency of equipment and supplies, Inadequate professional growth, low salary and padrino system in the promotion of police officers.
The respondents strongly agree that there are measures adopted to boast the work performance of police officers. That the respondent perceived that the police organization adopted are: giving symposium about interpersonal relationship in order to develop good relationship among the police officer and their superior, conducting seminar workshops about moral values to improve the morale of police officers, providing special training to enhance individual performance and encouraging positive motivation to the police officers like giving incentives and rewards.
