IMPLICATION OF DRAG RACING TO PEACE AND ORDER SITUATION IN LUCENA CITY

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the implication of drag racing to peace and order situation in Lucena City. In this perception, the researchers utilized the descriptive survey method of research and distributed in two different respondents, the private individual and local PNP members to gather data. Findings revealed that the Lucena City have no city ordinance in drag racing so that when the accidents happened the racers charge only with reckless driving. The drag racing in the Lucena City one of the causes of the crime rate and also it increase the accidents that happened on the streets. On the other hand, the City of Lucena has different programs that can control the drag racing at night some programs are night patrolling, curfews on barangays and sometimes checkpoint. It is therefore recommended that the City of Lucena should create city ordinance on drag racing that will prohibit the racers to conduct racing on public places. The local government should strictly implement the curfew to the teenagers below 18, and to have regular checkpoint in different places in the Lucena City. The City of Lucena should provide information box to be more effective in preventing the drag racing. They have to provide constant monitoring of the road during nighttime to prevent the racing to the streets. The Lucena City police will strengthen the campaign against the drag racing. It is recommended to advertise the different effect of it to the racers also to the people to the community, the different accidents that will happen if ever they will join to this race. To the racers that will violate the city ordinance will given the respective punishment, according to the city ordinance. In the term of the teenagers, it is recommended to be more strictly on implementing the curfew to all barangays in Lucena City, to arrest all the teenagers that violated the city ordinance of curfew.
