Food Selection and Academic Performance among School Age Children : A Correlational Study

Abstract
This study determined the effects of food selection on the academic performance among school age children of San Lorenzo Elementary School in Lucena City.Utilizing a descriptive correlational design, the study was participated by eighty grade v pupils and guardians. A survey questionnaire was used focusing on food selection of the children particularly on their food choice, liking and preference. Based on the findings of the study, food selection among school- age children was not prioritized. School age children disregard the importance of choices, liking and preferences on food selection. In terms of academic performance, data were taken from their adviser during the first grading period. No significant relationship was found between food selection ( choice, liking, preference) and their academic performance.
