Evaluation of the Effects of Admission and Retention Policy of Accountancy Program of MSEUF-LC on the Performance of the BSA Graduates

Abstract
This research is made to assess the effectiveness of the retention policy being implemented in the Accountancy program by the College of Business and Accountancy of MSEUF-LC. Secondary data from the Philippine Regulatory Commission (PRC) and the school's Registrar's Office were collected covering a period of May 1999 to May 2003; comprising of student's academic performance, PRC rating and background characteristics. Results revealed that after the implementation of admission and retention policy, it becomes apparent that the CPA Board exam scores is significantly higher compared to pre-implementation, in addition to the significant increase in student's academic performance. The study established that this academic policy is effective and was able to meet its policy-intent.
