Environmental and Behavioral factors affecting health conditions of Traffic Enforcers of Lucena City: Basis for Program development

Abstract

This study investigates the factors affecting the health conditions of the traffic enforcers of Lucena City. These factors include the environmental factors such as air pollution and climate change. Behavioral factors were determined in terms of smoking, drinking, nutrition and diet and activity patterns. This study was participated by majority of male traffic enforcers of Lucena City belonging to 18-40 years old and working 8 hours per day. Based on the findings, it revealed that health conditions of the traffic enforcers were brought about by both environmental and behavioral factors. In terms of environmental factors, it was found out that air pollution and climate change are major contributory to the health conditions of the traffic enforcer. On the other hand, in terms of behavioral factors, it revealed that smoking, drinking alcoholic beverages and eating patterns were found out to affect them seldomly. Strong significant relationships were found between the environmental and health conditions of the traffic enforcers. However, a moderate relationship was found between the behavioral and health conditions of the traffic enforcers.
