The Employment status of nursing graduates of MSEUF: 2006-2013

Abstract

This graduate tracer study of the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences is a pilot study of which the primary objective is to determine the current employment status of its graduates from 2006-2012. Seven hundred sixty four (764) nursing graduates participated in this study and they are those who successfully passed the Nurse Licensure Examination form 2006-2012. Survey instruments were asked to accomplished which were sent to them through social networking sites and through personal meeting and interviews. Cellular phones via SMS and chat messages were also used as a form of Interview for those working in remote areas and as a means of verifying information of the survey form given to them, However, of the total number, only five hundred fifty eight (558) questionnaires were retrieved. Findings of the study revealed that majority of the MSEUF nursing graduates who participated in the study were single, female and belonged to ages 22-26 years old. They have trainings and advance studies in intravenous therapy, basic life support and advance cardiac life support. Majority of the job of the respondents are related to the nursing field. They are employed in private institutions, are tenured and work within the vicinity of Quezon Province and nearby provinces. Few respondents work abroad . Salaries and benefits remain to be the top reason considered by the respondents in accepting and changing the job even if it is related or not to the course completed in college. On the other hand, dedication to job is the top reason why they say on the job.
