Extent on the roles of caregivers and its implications to geriatric clients

Abstract
This study was conducted to assess the caregiving roles of nurses in addressing the needs of the geriatric clients and determine how these roles affect the health status of the geriatric clients. Such roles focus on the health-teacher roles, resource person roles, surrogate roles, leader and manager roles of nurses. Utilizing the descriptive design, the study was participated by caregivers and geriatric clients at Sinag Kalinga in Lucban,Quezon. A researcher –made questionnaire was used focusing on the extent of the utilization of roles of the caregivers and assessments made by the elderly clients on the extent of utilization of roles of the caregivers. Study results revealed that there is no significant difference on the responses made by the two groups of respondents. Both groups of respondents agreed that the different roles portrayed by the caregivers were utilized to the full extent. .
