Abstract

Jerick S. Agnes, John Dave C. Constantino, Regine Charlotte A. Mojica, Neil Edrian T. Segundo. “A Design of an 8-Storey Self-Sustained Hotel and Restaurant In Barangay Domoit, Lucena City”, Unpublished Project Paper for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, College of Engineering and Technical Department, March 2015. The project study is about the design of an 8-Storey Self-Sustained Hotel and Restaurant and has the following objectives: (a.) to design a self-sustained hotel and restaurant in Barangay Domoit, Lucena City.; (b.) to prepare technical specifications, bill of materials, cost estimate and program of works of the designed hotel and restaurant; and (c.) to develop architectural and structural plans, drawings and elevations of the designed hotel and restaurant. The procedures followed by the researchers are as follows: (1.) Gathering data from different sources like books, journals, related studies, internet, etc.; (2.) Site investigation for finding the suitable location of the proposed project; (3.) Soil Analysis for finding the allowable soil pressure and soil properties needed in the design computations; (4.) Design procedures presented on UNIT IV of the manuscript including the design plan and drawings which is composed of the Architectural Plan, Structural Plan, Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC. The structural design computations are based on the NSCP 2010, Ultimate Strength Design (USD) Method, and National Building Code of the Philippines (NBC). The preparation of cost estimate and Bill of Materials by finding the quantity and type of materials and other services rendered for the construction of the building are based on the latest prices of items used in the construction process with the help of Construction Estimate by Max Fajardo and Vicente R. Tagayun in estimating quantities of materials. The preparation of program of works presented using the PERT/CPM diagram and the preparation of technical specifications consulting the National Building Code of the Philippines (NBC) and local rules and regulation of the City of Lucena HOTEL AND RESTAURANT 16 which includes the technical specifications for the method of construction and the type of materials to be used for the construction of theSelf-Sustained Hotel and Restaurant. After collecting all the data needed in analyzing the structure, the researchers found out that the structural components of the building are well designed and can carry the loads subjected to it. With this, the researchers highly recommend the construction of the Self-Sustained Hotel and Restaurant in Barangay Domoit, Lucena City for future use of the community and future development of studies related to sustainability.
