Perceived Effects of Digitalization in Practicum Activities of Maritime Students of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation

Digitization is the process of converting information into a digital format. The result is the representation of an object, image, sound, document, or signal obtained by generating a series of numbers that describe a discrete set of points or samples. This study aims to identify the impact of digitalization in terms of different practicums or activities among Maritime students. Digitalization meets different innovations, upgrades, and other things happened among adaptations of systems, processes, etc with the use of different digital technologies like Virtual Reality (VR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and other technologies making a huge impact on maritime education in terms of the digital era. The researchers used a structured survey questionnaire that was distributed to the chosen participants. Questionnaires are the fundamental building price of a survey. These are requests for information from a large group. Survey research questions are often closed-ended or use rating scales to collect data regularly. The sample size has a considerable influence on the reliability of survey results, validity will rise as the sample size grows. The subject selection in this study was selected participants were determined 311 respondents from the College of Maritime major in Marine transportation through the random sampling method. Since the targeted participants in this study are in the same location and department. Therefore, random selection means the results can be generalized for a population. Based on the data gathered there is a huge impact of digitalization on the maritime education process, problems encountered, and educational priorities. The digitalization of the maritime industry presents both challenges and exciting opportunities for maritime students. While some traditional skills remain essential, a strong foundation in digital literacy and the ability to adapt to new technologies will be paramount for future success. By embracing digitalization, maritime students can unlock a future filled with enhanced efficiency, improved safety, and a more sustainable maritime industry. They will be well-positioned to take the helm and navigate the exciting new course charted by this technological revolution. Digitalization will be discussed in a seminar with the title "Empowering the Future Mariner: Essential Digital Skills for the Modern Seafarers." This focuses on the usage impacts and process of digitalization in maritime education and future seafarers.
