Assessing the Importance of Readiness of BSHM Cruise Management Students of MSEUF for Their On-Board Training: Basis for a Proposed Pre-Departure Immersion in the Workplace

Completed2024

Abstract

This study examines the preparedness of Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) Cruise Management students at Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) for their on-board training experiences. Data were collected using a sampling method approach, including surveys to measure students' proficiency in relevant abilities as well as their confidence in applying theoretical knowledge to practical contexts. The study aimed to evaluate the preparedness of BSHM-CM students for their on-the-job training, considering social, physical, and economic factors. The goal of the suggested immersion program is to close the knowledge gap between classroom theory and hands-on experience in a genuine cruise setting. Through the use of multiple indicators, including communications skills, problem-solving abilities, and flexibility, the study attempts to assess students' preparation in order to pinpoint areas that require work and modify the immersion program accordingly. The study also looks at how important on-board training is for students' professional growth and potential future careers in the cruise industry. Educators and industry stakeholders can work together to create a pre-departure immersion program that effectively addresses the unique requirements and problems experienced by BHSM students, maximizing their learning experience. The method it suggested was a pre-departure immersion in the workplace. Instead of focusing on causal effects, the descriptive research methodology highlighted the links between the variables and the study process. In essence, the goal was to offer a thorough grasp of the variables affecting students' preparedness for their instruction. The proposed curriculum seeks to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations, ensuring that students are well-prepared for effective on-board training in the cruise management sector.
