Abstract

This study is focused on recruitment procedures vis-a-vis qualification and competencies of loan officer applicants preferred by selecting lending companies in Lucena City. The researchers determined the background characteristics of the business profile and the personal profile of the respondents. identified the current recruitment practices of lending companies in Lucena City; recruitment, selection and hiring, and onboarding. Determined the preference of lending companies in hiring loan officer applicants in terms of Qualification, and competencies. Deduce the common problems encountered by the management of the selected lending companies in Lucena CIty in the recruitment process of a loan officer. In this study, the researchers used the descriptive method of research. The data gathering was conducted on the premises of the lending company in Lucena City with forty-four (44) employees. A simple random sampling technique was used in choosing the respondents for the study. The respondents of the study were the owners, managers, and HR officers of a lending company in Lucena City. Structured types of questionnaires were used. Simple percentage methods and weighted mean were utilized and were presented in graphs and tables. Based on the findings, researchers concluded that: (1) the majority of the selected owners, managers , or supervisors in charge of the current recruitment practices of lending companies in Lucena City are the following: keeping track of employee turnover; considering existing employees; social networking platforms; holding a preliminary interview; identifying the main criteria and most important characteristics of the candidates selected for the interview; conducting interviews face to face. In selection and hiring, provide a job offer including the employee's salary, benefits, paid time-off, start data, potential severance pay, and working remotely policy. In onboarding, organizing the team's first meeting. (2) The preference of lending companies in hiring loan officer applicants in terms of Qualification and competencies are as follows consecutively: Solid understanding of loan regulations, having a strong customer service orientation to build trust and rapport with clients. (3) The common problems encountered by the management of the selected lending companies in Lucena City in the recruitment process of a loan officer are the following: poor communication and feedback throughout the recruitment process, not providing adequate feedback to candidates, and unclear onboarding nad integration procedures for new hires.
