CHALLENGES AND COPING MECHANISMS IN RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION PROCESS AMIDST COVID-19 PANDEMIC: THE CASE OF SELECTED BANKS IN LUCENA CITY

This study was focused on determining the perceived challenges and coping mechanism in recruitment and selection process amidst COVID-19 pandemic in selected banks here at Lucena City, Quezon Province. The researchers also determined the background characteristic of the selected respondents, the traditional also determined the background characteristic of the selected respondents, the traditional recruitment and selection process they practice before the occurrence of COVID-19, the challenges in recruitment and selection process amidst COVID-19, and the coping mechanisms instituted by the organization to overcome the challenges encountered amidst COVID-19 pandemic. This study used a quantitative approach and descriptive method when it comes to the research design and survey was sued to collect the data. The researchers considered purposive sampling as the most appropriate sampling method for this study. Through this, the researchers are able to purposively select ten (10) HR Recruitment and Selection Staffs who serves as the respondents. The said respondents were selected because as compared to other HR Staff and bank employees, they are the one who can share relevant and reliable information that is needed by the researchers. Further, this study was emphasized on objective measurements and numerical analysis of data collected through questionnaires. Statistical techniques was applied to recognize overall patterns in the relations of processes and effects. Through data, the researchers found out that recruitment and selection process is still important amidst COVID-19 pandemic. However, various screenings and examinations must be taken seriously which was listed as a recommendation given by the researchers. Hence, bank employees are encouraged to be more open about this research to extend their knowledge upon upgrading virtual assessments and activities regarding on recruitment and selection process.
