OCCUPATIONAL STRESS AMONG FEMALE POLICE OFFICERS AND ITS IMPACT ON THEIR JOB PERFORMANCE

Abstract

The study focused on the occupational stress being experienced by female police officers who also play the role of a wife and a mother and its impact on their job performance. A descriptive quantitative approach was used to gather data from a total of fifty (50) female police officers from Quezon, Cavite and Batangas. The respondents were randomly chosen from different municipal police stations in the three provinces to participate in the survey. Frequency, percentage and weighted mean were used in the statistical analysis. Results revealed that female police officers experience occupational stress brought about by environmental factors such working outside their offices and being deployed to crowded surroundings, personal factors such as health (physical, mental, spiritual) and problems in personal life, and organizational factors such as work condition and motivators. Their work environment and high workloads are very much a problem to them. Their occupational stress impact ont heir job performance and decreases their motivation to work effectively.
