Assessment of Learning Style and Personality Trait of CAS College Students

Abstract
In order to better prepare university students as proficient, versatile and productive information and industrial technologists in the 21st century, the need to implement instructional strategies and activities naturally align with their predispositions will make them better learners. This study examined the learning style and personality traits of students enrolled in College of Arts and Sciences department of a public higher education institution in the Philippines. The study employed descriptive correlational research design to a total of one hndred respondents who were randomly sampled. Two sets of instruments were utilized by the researcher, one is a learning style questionnaire devised by the researcher, and the 44-item Big Five Inventory. Results of the study revealed that majority of the respondents were famales and aged 21 to 22. It is only concluded that the Majority of the Respondents were from Bachelor of Science in Psychology, followed by Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication. The study revealed that majority of the respondents were high openness. It is also concluded that most of the respondents were high neuroticism, agreeableness, and conscientiousness, however, only almost half of the respondents were high extraversion. The curriculum innovators should extend an extra effort to provide implications to curriculum designs that will allow teachers to implement a learner centered model on their methods of teaching and will allow teachers to focus on the individual differences of their students.
