PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT AND STUDENTS' ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN THE MIDST OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Abstract

The research aimed to investigate the impact of parental involvement on the academic performance during the distance learning of the students in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic. In line with this, the study employed a descriptive-quantitative approach. The gata gathering framework was specified, evaluated, documented, and interpreted. In compliance with, parental involvement questionnaires and student engagement questionnaires were utilized in this study to collect data on the nature and extent of parents' involvement in their children's school and academic work. Additionally, as the study was conducted quantitatively, the researcher used self-structured survey questionnaires in obtaining and analyzing appropriate statistics in gathering the data needed. The researcher simply randomly selected six-eight (68) parents of junior high school students and sixty eight (68) junior high school students who are enrolled in the school year 2021-2022 with the total of one hundred thirty six respondents from Quezon Province. To describe or summarize the characteristics of a sample or data set, descriptive statistics were used, which will be needed in exploring the impact of parental involvement on the academic performance of students in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic. The researcher has come up with a general idea or sense of the respondent's responses using descriptive statistics. At last, the findings of the study were used to develop projects, such as parent outreach programs and parental involvement handbook.
