Motivation and Psychological Resilience of Barangay Officials in Providing Service to the Community as Frontliners

Abstract

The study assessed the motivation and psychological resilience of the barangay officials from the City of Lucena to determine how these factors influenced their act of service to the community. The researcher utilized a purposive sampling, case study design, and qualitative resarch strategy. There is a total of 3 barangay officials were selected from barangay 11 Lucena City and served as frontline workers during the pandemic. The researcher utilized semi-structured interviews to gather more information and to deeply understand their experiences as frontline workers during these times of pandemics. The printed informed consent was distributed personally and the data gathering was done in actuality. The data gathered in interviewqs were evaluated through thematic analysis. The results show that the source motivation of Barangay frontliner is directly the welfare of the community. However, the psychological resilience was influenced by the of the participants, and the participants manifested personal and social resilience. The results of the research study will be utlized to organize a proposed online webinar that revolves around the motivation and psychological resilience of frontline workers, such as barangay officials in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. The proposed output aims to enhance the awareness of the people, particularly those individuals on the frontline, to understand how a pandemic affects their motivation and resiliency and its importance to the quantity and quality of service they may provide in the community. The online webinar will include barangay officials, frontlines, and students.
