DEVELOPMENTAL PATTERNS OF CAREER CHOICE OF GENERATION Y AND GENERATION Z: COMPARATIVE STUDY

Abstract

In this study, the researcher focused into patterns of career development of generation y and generation z. it also discusses that motivates Generation Y and Generation Z. Thus, this research aims to study the patterns of career choses by Generation Z and generation Y. Specifically, this study is sought to answer the following objectives, (1) To determine the career patterns of Generation Z and Generation Y respondents; (2) to describe the respondents' characteristics in terms of, attitudes, behavior, and personality (3) To indentify what motivates the Generation Y and Generation Z respondents. )4_ To investigate the respondents' job satisfaction. (5) to describe the difference betweek the characteristics of Generation Y and Generation Z (6) to determine the difference between the motivating factors of Generation Y and Generation Z (7) To assess the difference between the job satisfaction level of Generation Y and Generation to ensure objectivity, the data was grouped according to survey components and independently computed. The study employed a quantitative resarch method and an online survey approach to collect data, with 50 gen y employees selected randomly from a broad population in Lucena City, also the selected 50 employee that comes from gen Z with the total responses of 100. The finding of the study revealed significance difference between the Generation Y and generation Z in terms of attitude and intrinsic motivating factors. Result of the study also can give ideas for future resaerch on the adopting and established career development theories and from considering a broader literature on patterns of development in terms of career. Furthermore, since generation y and generation z are still developing their skill and competence.
