Psychological Impacts of Online Learning Among the College Student During Pandemic

Abstract

The sudden unnplanned and forced change from face-to-face to online learning has created several challenges. The long-lasting pandemic and onerous measures such as lockdown and stay-at-home orders have implication that negatively impacts college students' mental health well - being amidst the COVID - 19 pandemics. The purpose of this study is to explore the psychological impact of online learning during the Covid - 19 pandemic among the college student. The research method uses a qualitative research type of phenomenology. The research subject were five students of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation - Lucena City under the Department of College of Arts and Sciences who were interviewed via zoom. The research findings show that (1) students were having lack of motivation due to the increasing workload and limited internet connectivity and accepting prevailing situation to have academic resiliency that urging them to manage the online class despite of adveristy (2) lack of critical thinking skills, emotional distress, and sense of isolation occur due to the online learning Covid - 19 pandemic measures. Suggestions and recommendation from this research are the need for significant efforts in assisting students' psychological well- being through the involvement of guidance counselors and psychologist
