LOVE AT FIRST SWIPE: TINDER AS AN ONLINE DATING APPLICATION TOOL AS PERCEIVED BY SELECTED HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN MARYHILL COLLEGE

Abstract
This research study was focused on Tinder as an online dating application tool and its
impact on teenagers’ lifestyles. It was conducted among selected students of Maryhill
College, ages 16-18 years old, for the school year 2021-2022. The study used
purposive sampling utilizing a focus group discussion to achieve the purpose of the
study. The focus group discussion was done via Zoom or Google Meet using an
interview guide among five selected high school students. As the researcher gathered
all the respondents' information, the researcher found that Tinder is an excellent
platform for meeting new strangers or partners in life. Moreover, most of the students
were influenced by their friends to let them eliminate their boredom and experience
something new. Also, through Tinder, students have acquired numerous positive and
negative impacts that affect their lifestyles.
