USE OF TIKTOK AS AN E-LEARNING MEDIUM AS PERCEIVED BY MSEUF COLLEGE STUDENTS

Abstract
This study aimed to determine the use of TikTok as an online educational learning
medium for students. It specifically sought to identify the respondents’ level of exposure
to Tiktok App, their reasons for using it, their perception on the use of TikTok as an elearning medium, problems or issues with regard to its use as an online learning medium,
and impacts in terms of learning achievement and student engagement. Using the
descriptive survey method, 100 college students were randomly selected from the locale.
The questionnaires were administered online and personally gathered data for the study.
Frequency, percentage, and weighted mean were used as statistical treatment.
Results revealed that the level of exposure to Tiktok App of students, it was
imperative that from the time of 9pm-12mn got the highest level of time exposure, with 30
minutes to hour spending time on the app, with 50+ people followed and with the
topic/contents about daily life. The top reason why students use TikTok is to get
entertained by watching viral videos and memes. Students perceived that the use
of Tiktok in terms of functionality was that Tiktok was a portable social media to use on any device. On accessibility, Tiktok can effectively reach the targeted audience and with
efficiency to which Tiktok can be utilized both mobile and desktop. The study also
revealed that Tiktok has problems or issues with regard to e-learning. The data showed
that students are likely to spend a long time in the app and might even become addicted
to watching the videos for hours at a time. Lastly is that the perceived impact of Tiktok
app on learning achievement is the usage Tiktok to connect more students and educators
around the world. While in learning achievement was that students were able to enhance
their creativity by using TikTok as medium for learning.
