Completed2023

Abstract

The research focused on the level of awareness and perception of selected women with regard to Safe Spaces Law. Specifically, the study determined the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of their age, and occupation. The study investigated the level of awareness of the respondents toward its provisions, and their perception with regard to its scope and effectiveness. This research was a quantitative one and the respondents were selected through a stratified sampling technique. Online forms of questionnaires were used to gather the data. The results were collected and analyzed by the use of a percentage for the population and Weighted Mean with the rest. The findings of the study revealed that the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age is mostly 21-23 years old, and their occupation varies from being a student to working. Furthermore, their level of awareness on the provisions of RA 11313 are all at a high level. Adding to that, the respondents strongly agree on the scopes of the law. Specifically, their perception in terms of the law’s applicability is that, it is applicable because it includes punishments such as paying a fine, attending a seminar, or being sent to jail. Lastly, in terms of its effectiveness, they also agree to its effectivity. Because its punishments include revoking one’s license and paying large fine serves as a warning to people not to go against it. Hence, it is recommended for the LGU to ensure a more strict application of RA 11313 by imposing larger fines to those who are proven to violate its provisions.
