Abstract

The proposed system was designed and intended for Shipping Cargo vessels monitoring. The application focuses on efficiently and effectively managing vessels in monitoring and navigating across their project. Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) was seed in order to develop the system to analyze the functional requirements and to elaborate the analysis models to produce implementation specifications of the system. Use case diagrams, class diagrams, entity relation diagram and deployment diagrams were utilized to elaborate the systems functions and routines. Visual Studio, the main programming language is an integrated development environment (IDE) from Microsoft. It is used to develop console and graphical user interface applications .Questionnaires were used for measuring the efficiency of the proposed system as evaluated by the end-users. As evaluated, system based on ISO 9126 standard reveals that the efficiency criteria ranked as the highest, followed by usability, maintainability, portability and reliability and the functionality of the system is ranked lowest. This project will used for global positioning system (GPS) to easily track the location of the vehicle. Based on the results of the evaluation, it shows that the developed system has achieved its functional requirements in navigating vessels designed for Shipping businesses. Therefore, the proponent highly recommends it to shipping businesses who desire to implement a high standard on the management of its shipping industry.
