Abstract

The research sought to determine the factors that affect the choices of students in choosing a career path according to their career preference in an Autonomous University in Region 4A. The researcher aims to extract more information that will unfold on how students cope with deciding their career referring to their career preferences. The quantitative descriptive research design will be used in this study to conduct influencing factors and prospective career preferences of selected criminology students in an Autonomous University in Region 4A. There will be 200 randomly selected all-year-level students of the College of Criminal Justice and Criminology who will be the target respondents of the study. A survey questionnaire will be used as a research instrument which will be administered online to gather data for the study. Frequency and percentage will be used as statistical treatment. As acquired from the gathered data using the medium of research instruments, students are most likely to be influenced by the demand, environment, interest, and economic stability. Results revealed that the students choose a career path base on their perspective in the school environment, peer pressures, passion, and dedication, most importantly future. This research clearly shows all the possible influences that make students choose courses for their perspective of planned or encouraged career to pursue. It was also suggested that the researcher can involve some education experts in this research to collect more information on how students are influenced and how they decide on what future profession they want to belong in. And also Improve and formulate the questionnaire when in need of corresponding advancement for the study related to this research.
