Effectiveness of Conducting “Oplan-Galugad” in Lucena City
Area of Research
Abstract
Many of the current correctional systems involve the offender's rehabilitation in
addition to punishment as one of their goals. A compromise of safety in the facilities of
convicts is one of the most effective tools that correctional systems can utilize to this
objective. In response Philippine National Police released an operation which is called
“OPLAN-GALUGAD” which deals with drug criminals and possession of illegal firearms
cases. The researchers conducted quantitative research to determine the effectiveness
of the OPLAN GALUGAD operation in Lucena City Jail. In addition to this, the
researchers utilized a survey questionnaire and distributed it to the fifty (50) respondents
who are police officers and jail officers of Lucena City. The researchers used a
quantitative method of research to gather the data needed for the study. The results of
the study shown in the operational procedure in conducting Oplan Galugad police
officers and jail officers handed carefully the illegal and nuisance contraband they
confiscated in proper storage with the proper disposal that could help the jail officers to
control the people inside the jail and to ensure that the operation was beneficial to the Lucena City Jail. The major output of the study was the knowledge of OPLAN
GALUGAD and how effective it is. In addition, the study recommends improvements for
the betterment of OPLAN GALUGAD in Lucena City.
