TAMPUKAN: A PROPOSED MAUBAN CULTURAL HUB

During festivals and other cultural events, the municipality of Mauban doesn’t have a specific place to perform various activities and tends to use any available venues where people will fit in. The town lacks cultural facilities where people can learn and experience a comfortable environment mainly established for learning and cultural activities. The abundance of culture in Mauban will be valued by the people and future generations through the development of a cultural hub that aims to provide people with an interactive community, facilities, and environment that promote the arts and culture of the town. This can develop a strong sense of place where the cultural hub can offer natural and recreational spaces, providing a distinctive ground for relaxation where people can socialize and appreciate culture. Culture can be defined as all the ways of life including arts, beliefs, and institutions of a population that are passed down from generation to generation (LaMorte, 2016). People nowadays are too focused on the trends in society and forget the essence of arts and culture. Thinking of design solutions to be incorporated into the built environment is necessary to create a harmonious effect that brings its end users and the environment together. The proposed Mauban cultural hub will serve as a symbol of the town’s abundance in culture, helping the community to flourish while bringing the town's arts and culture to the people. The proposed Mauban Cultural Hub in Barangay Polo Mauban, Quezon, aims to provide a healthy environment while promoting Mauban's arts and culture, enhancing the town’s vision, and bringing the community together. It aims to increase activity, improve sociability, and improve the town's image and tourism.
