TANGLAW: A PROPOSED SPIRITUAL RETREAT CENTER

Completed2023

Abstract

Seeking personal renewal in nature's peaceful rhythms and solace has been a practice of humankind since the beginning of civilization, an act that has transcended throughout the ages. According to a study from the RMIT University in Australia, people who participated in leisurely, educational, recreational, and therapeutic events and activities during a week-long retreat showed favorable, health-improving results (Hin, 2018). The proposed Spiritual Retreat Center will be situated in Bukal Sur, Candelaria Quezon. The selected site is in a serene and quiet environment that is far from the busy and noisy road. To ensure that the proposed project is close to the natural environment, the site will be accorded with the majestic view of Mt. Banahaw and Mt. Malepunyo that are suitable for the project since it will bring the natural scenery and its ambiance for the end-users. The project will cater to all individuals who are looking for a place to unwind from their hectic work, particularly students who annually perform a retreat event as part of a class requirement and with schools within the CALABARZON Region. To achieve this, data were gathered during investigation, which was supported by documentary analysis and observational guides. The researcher of the study used qualitative research design through the application of various gathering procedures including the application of sustainable and holistic design of building materials that are carefully selected by identifying which are attainable and can be consolidated. In the field of architecture, planners may discover strategies to integrate the constructed environment with the natural environment in order to achieve a harmonious effect that has an impact on end-users. This proposed project aims to develop and promote the culture by allowing every individual to have spiritual rejuvenation and reconnection using natural processes. Additionally, it will offer educational and spiritual programs to uplift the mind and spirits of end-users
